LOVIBOND TINTOMETERS
“THE TINTOMETER LIMITED”
Color measurement in transparent liquids historically has been a very subjective test in which trust is relied upon the visual acuteness of operators and their personal experience. In recent years, various alternatives have been developed to automate the color measuring process.
Towards the end of the 19th century, Tintometer Ltd developed a scale for the comparative measurement of color called Lovibond, based in a series of red, yellow and blue glasses, which are recognized today by the best international quality normalization entities: ISO, ASTM.
APPLICATIONS:
The measurement of the color in transparent liquids is associated internationally to the quality control process for:
- Greases and edible oils. - Industrial oils and resins. - Fuel Oil and lubricants. - Chemical liquids. - Petrochemical liquids. - Surfactants.
Aditionaly, Tintometer has two types of instruments for the measurement of color:
* Visual measurement with normalizad glasses in the Lovibond Scale:
Tintometer manufactures a wide range of stable colored glasses in the Lovibond scale, and other scales according to the ASTM. The glasses are a very important part of the colorimeter and allow the operator perform a quick comparison between a sample and an adequate standard of color under specific conditions.
* Automatic Measurement:
The specrophotometric base for the automated Lovibond equipment have as an objective, to replace the visual readings that are constantly affected by the criteria of the operator and for environmental conditions. The automated equipment offer the possibility of a reading in many scales and values of color according to the application. They possess auto-calibration for the optional readings and specifications like a calefaction unit, windows software and conformity filters for recalibration.
